THE NEW LIVE ALBUM
The pandemic has not only changed us personally but also the way, how, and where we can play our music under what conditions. After a few live streams, I wanted to go in a different and courageous direction: To symbolize the almost dead cultural business and to stage it optically, I wanted in the largest hall that Basel offers, in front of the maximum number of visitors play. The result was the concert in my hometown Basel, Switzerland, at St. Jakobshalle on November 19, 2020. 50 people were admitted due to the current regulations – in an arena in which Roger Federer normally fills 12,400 seats. Masks were required, and we had to keep six feet safety distance in all directions. The atmosphere was almost ghostly.
Two aspects were important to us from the start. First, we wanted to create solidarity in action. That is why 30 guests paid an entry fee of CHF 100 each to be able to give the remaining 20 tickets free to people who could not afford the concert due to their current difficult financial situation. Second, I wanted to put together a kind of Basel all-star band for this concert and was therefore grateful that with bassist Lukas Kurmann (Zeal & Ardor, Sons of Morpheus), guitarist Manuel Meisel (Anna Rossinelli), percussionist Nora Lützelschwab (Ray Drma), drummer Beat Schürpf (Blush) and the two special guest vocalists Ira May and Seraina Clark not only good musicians joined me, but above all these precious people had a goal in mind.
We were able to master both challenges. The live album «7/50» contains 8 songs and is expected to be released in April 2021, including a video. Get your copy by sending us an email.
